African School of Economics, Nigeria, holds inaugural orientation ceremony
The African School of Economics, (ASE) Nigeria, yesterday, 21st January, 2025, held its inaugural orientation ceremony for its pioneer cohort of students. The event, themed “Your Attitude is Your Altitude,” took place on the university’s campus and was attended by principal officers, faculty members, staff, and students.
In his keynote address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mahfouz A. Adedimeji, emphasised the importance of values such as attitude, gratitude, fortitude, altitude, and certitude in achieving academic success. He also reiterated the university’s guiding principles: Integrity, Discipline, Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Sacrifice.
The Registrar, Mrs Emi-Fowowe Ogunboye, congratulated the students on being the pioneers of the university’s academic journey. She urged them to follow the school’s rules and regulations and remain focused on their studies.
Other principal officers, including the University Librarian, Dr Mrs Antonia Ejikeme, and the University Bursar, Stephen Adegbite, also addressed the students on library usage, financial management, and payment systems.
The coordinators of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Computing, Dr. Ajuwon Oluseye and Prof Mohammed Suleman Lawan, respectively, explained the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system and urged students to work hard and stay true to their purpose.
The ceremony included an interactive session, where students asked questions on academics, socials, and logistics. The principal officers provided clarity on all queries, dispelling any misconceptions.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Teddi Mattox, a photo session, featuring principal officers, staff, and students, as they looked forward to an unforgettable academic year.
With its inaugural orientation ceremony, the African School of Economics Nigeria has set the tone for a successful academic year, and its pioneer students are eager to embark on their educational journey.
